- The "lip bumper" extensions neutralise the contractions from the lip-chin region and encourage transversal jaw growth.
- The propulsion plane releases the mandible, facilitating the establishment of secondary swallowing.

- The Square Mouthguard is placed in the mouth, with the bilateral blocks under the tongue.
- When the mouthguard is in the mouth, patients breathe through their nose.
- Chewing exercises can be carried out on the practitioner's advice.
- The recommended time for wearing the mouthguard in the day is 2 h in sessions of 15 to 30 minutes during which time chewing, breathing and swallowing exercises can be carried out.
- Wearing the mouthguard at night helps to establish breathing through the nose as a reflex action as well as automatic secondary swallowing.
- The square mouthguard is available in 10 sizes: it is measured by calculating the sum (SI) of the mesiodistal diameters of the upper incisors. (from SI 25 to SI 36.2). A conversion table helps you to choose the right mouthguard.
- The Square Mouthguard should be cleaned in cold water with a toothbrush and toothpaste, before and after use. The recommendation is to soak it for 1 hour a week in mouthwash.
- Never boil the Square Mouthguard.
- When wearing the mouthguard at night, it's normal for the patient's appliance to fall out. YOU MUST PERSEVERE as functional reeducation is a long process.
